Firefox users who want to disable favicons will now have to do so through the browser’s preferences. Firefox 57, which was released on August 28th, 2017, introduces a new preference called “Show Desktop Icons (Favicons)”. To enable this preference, go to “Preferences” in the menu bar and select “Content”. Under the “Advanced” tab, select the checkbox next to “Show desktop icons (favicons)”. ..
Just type about:config into the address bar, and then filter by browser.chrome. You should see something similar to this:
Set the value of these two preferences to false by double-clicking on them.
You’ll have to restart Firefox, but the favicons will be gone entirely.
