If you use Firefox as your web browser, you may be interested in disabling the AutoScroll feature. This feature allows Firefox to automatically scroll through your web pages when you open them. This can be a helpful feature if you’re using a screen reader or other assistive technology, but it can also be frustrating if you have to scroll manually every time you want to see a page. To disable the AutoScroll feature in Firefox, open Mozilla Firefox’s preferences and select the “AutoScroll” tab. Under “Auto Scrolling,” select “Never.” If you’re using a screen reader or other assistive technology, make sure that it’s enabled for “Auto Scrolling” in the preferences too. Once you’ve disabled the AutoScroll feature in Firefox, your pages will still scroll automatically when opened, but they won’t start automatically scrolling until you manually select them to do so.
Note: You can’t disable the same thing in Internet Explorer as far as I can tell. If anybody knows of a way, let me know.
Open up the Options dialog through Tools \ Options, click on the Advanced tab/button, and then uncheck the “Use autoscrolling” box.
The change should be immediate, no need to restart.
Note: This should work on Firefox 2 or 3.
