Windows 7 is a great operating system, but it can be a little boring. Microsoft has released a new set of themes for Windows 7 that will give your computer a new look. The themes are available as downloads from the Microsoft website. Once you have downloaded the theme, you will need to extract it to your computer. After extracting the theme, you will need to open the folder that was created. Inside of this folder, you will find three files: Themes\Windows\Themes\ and Themes\Windows7\Themes. You will need to copy all three files to your computer’s desktop. Once the files are on your desktop, you will need to open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Users<username>.windows7\themes. Inside of this folder, you will find a file called Default.theme. This file is what you will use as your new theme for Windows 7. You can change the name of this file if you want, but it is recommended that you keep the name default so that everything looks consistent when using multiple themes on your computer at once. Once Default.theme is open in Windows Explorer, you can start changing some of the settings within it. For example, if you want to make changes to the background image or font size, simply click on these items and then select what you want from the list that appears. Be sure to save your changes before closing Default.theme so that they are applied when next using this theme in Windows 7. There are also several other themes available for download from Microsoft’s website; these themes should work with any version of Windows 7 (including 64-bit versions). If there is a specific theme that you would like to see made available as a downloadable download from Microsoft’s website, please let them know in comments below or on their social media pages! ..
To download new Themes right-click on the Desktop and select Personalize.
Then under My Themes click on Get more themes online.
That takes you to Microsoft’s site where you can select from a variety of New and Featured themes from the Personalization Gallery.
Now you can open and apply the theme right away, or save a bunch of them for use later.
Here are examples of the Avatar and Gears of War Themes.
