If you’re like most people, you probably use Outlook 2010 to manage your email, calendar, and contacts. But did you know that you can also use Outlook 2010 to help keep track of your to-dos? The Reminder Bell is a handy feature that lets you set a reminder for yourself or someone else. To use the Reminder Bell, open Outlook 2010 and click the File tab. In the list of folders on the left side of the window, click Options. On the Options page, under “General,” click Reminders. In the “Reminders” dialog box that opens, under “When checking this folder,” select “Open this folder every time I open Outlook.” (If you want to set a reminder for only certain folders or files in Outlook 2010, select those folders or files before clicking OK.) Under “What to remind me about,” type a message that will remind you about your to-do. Click OK to close the dialog box and save your changes. Now whenever you open Outlook 2010, your reminder message will appear in the Reminder Bell at the top of the window. You can dismiss the reminder by clicking it or by pressing any key on your keyboard. If you have more than one reminder message in the Reminder Bell at one time, they will all be dismissed when you press any key on your keyboard. If you want to disable reminders altogether in Outlook 2010, go back to the Options page and under “General,” uncheck “Open this folder every time I open Outlook.” ..

If you’re still using Outlook 2003 you’re probably familiar with the Reminder Bell icon.
