If you work with a lot of large access databases, you know that it can be time-consuming to manually compact them every so often. This process can take hours or even days, and it’s always a hassle to have to keep track of which files need to be compacted and when. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to automate the process of compacting access databases. You can use a tool like Database Compaction Manager (Dcm) from Database Performance Solutions (DPS). Dcm is a powerful tool that can automatically compact your access databases based on specific criteria, such as size or age. To use Dcm, first create a configuration file for your database. This file will contain information about the database, such as the name and location of the database files. Next, open Dcm and click the “Configure” button. In the “Configure” window, click the “Add” button and select your configuration file from the list of files. Now you’re ready to start compressing your database. To do this, click the “Compact” button in Dcm’s main window and specify your compression parameters. You can choose between two compression methods: LZMA or ZIP. LZMA is faster but less efficient than ZIP, while ZIP is more efficient but slower than LZMA. Once you’ve specified your compression parameters, click the “Compact” button in Dcm’s main window to begin compressing your database. Dcm will compress each file in your database according to its specified compression method and schedule it for execution at a later time (usually at night). So long as you keep your configuration file up-to-date and keep Dcm running on your computer, Compacting Access Databases with Database Compaction Manager will quickly and easily take care of all of your compressed database needs! ..

To enable the automatic compact, open your Access file and go to Tools \ Options.

Select the General Tab and place a checkmark in the box next to “Compact on Close”

That’s it! Now each time the database is opened it will automatically compact the data when you close Access.
