Firefox users have long been able to customize their browser with user profiles, but now there’s a new way to make Firefox look and feel your own way - with personas. Personas are customizable profiles that let you create different versions of yourself for different situations. For example, you might create a persona for work, one for hanging out with friends, and one for when you’re studying for exams. Once you’ve created your personas, all you need to do is switch between them using the “Persona” button in the Firefox toolbar. This will change the look and feel of Firefox to match your persona’s preferences. Here are some tips on how to use personas in Firefox:
- Start by creating a new persona by clicking on the “Persona” button in the toolbar and selecting “New Persona.” Give your persona a name and select which websites you want it to apply to (for example, work or home). You can also choose which settings (such as font size) should be applied when using this persona.
- Next, decide which settings should be customized when using this persona. For example, if you use this persona at work, you might want to change the font size and color so it looks more professional. You can also disable add-ons or extensions that aren’t necessary while using this persona.
- Finally, decide what kind of mood you want your persona to represent. For example, if you’re feeling stressed out at work, try setting your persona up as a stressed-out version of yourself that uses darker colors and smaller fonts. This will help make it easier to focus on what’s important while working! ..
This wonderful extension for Firefox gives you the opportunity to brighten up your browser (and day!) with an extremely huge selection of “skins” to choose from. The “skins” are separated into the following galleries for your viewing (and choosing) pleasure:
Abstract, Causes, Fashion, Firefox, Foxkeh, Music, Nature, Other, Scenery, Seasonal, Solid, Sports, and Websites
There is something to suit every mood. Personas works with Firefox versions 3.0 – 3.5.
Getting Started
Once you have installed the extension, the Personas menu can be accessed in the lower left corner of your browser by clicking on the small fox head button.
You can browse “skins” by category (the categories have a basic listing of “skins”). To access the full collection of “skins”, click on “View Gallery” and your browser will open a new tab for the Personas Gallery website.
Here you can see the preferences that are available for the Personas extension.
