If you’re like most Firefox users, you probably use the browser to access the web. But what if you want to create pre-formatted links in your browser? This is a great way to quickly and easily create links that look good on any web page. To do this, open Firefox and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the main window. This will open a new window with a list of tools. On the left side of this window, you’ll find a link builder. This tool allows you to create pre-formatted links by entering a few simple fields. The fields that we’ll be looking at are: link text, link target, and link href. The first two fields are important because they determine how your link will look when it’s clicked. The target field tells Firefox where to send your link when it’s clicked, and the href field tells Firefox where to take your user’s attention when they click on your link. To create a pre-formatted link, enter one of these values into thelink text field: “Hello World!” “Link me to www.example.com” “Link me to my website!”
Before
If you have ever wanted to link to something great that you have found on the web you have to go through a lot of hassle to do it. Copy the text part, copy the webpage address, then start pasting everything into the new link you are formatting/creating. Once in a while is not bad but it can be frustrating if you have to do that a lot every day while writing your blog or articles. What if you could super simplify the entire process and save valuable time throughout the day?
After
Once you have installed the extension you are ready to go. For our first example we decided to copy the title of this article by highlighting the text, right clicking, and selecting ”Copy as HTML Link”.
Note: This does not work for images.
Followed by pasting into Notepad. There is the article title and webpage link already fixed into a pre-formatted link setup.
What if you are interested in a small section of the text (or a quote)? The extension works just as nicely for this too. Select, copy…
And paste. It really does not get much simpler than that for setting up links.
Conclusion
If you have a lot of links to set up each day for your writing, then the Copy as HTML Link extension will certainly make the process as pain-free as possible.
