If you’re using Firefox 3, there’s a good chance that you’re running into an about:config warning message. This message is telling you that there are some settings that you should not change because they might impact your computer’s performance. Fortunately, there is a way to disable this warning message in Firefox 3. To do this, open Firefox and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the main window. On the left side of these lines, you’ll see a list of options called “Firefox 3 Options.” Click on the one called “Appearance.” In this setting, you can control how Firefox looks. To disable the about:config warning message in Firefox 3, select one of the following options:

  • Choose “No” on the first line to keep the warning message active but do not change any other settings. This will leave Firefox 3 with its default appearance.
  • Choose “Yes” on the first line to change all of Firefox’s settings and enable the about:config warning message. This will enable both the about:config warning message and any changes that you make to Firefox’s settings.

I know what you are thinking… why would you possibly want it back?

If you are customizing Firefox for somebody else and you turned the warning off… you might want to re-enable it after you are done to help prevent them from making changes.
