If you’re like most people, you probably don’t use your XP desktop much. But if you need to access a folder that’s hidden by default, there’s a way to do it. To display a hidden folder, open the Start menu and click Run. Type “explorer” and press Enter. In the Explorer window, click the Computer icon in the left column. In the right column, under “Local Disk (C:)”, click the drive letter for your C: drive. (If you don’t see your C: drive, right-click on My Computer and select Properties from the pop-up menu.) In the window that opens, double-click on My Documents. If you want to view all of your folders and files, select Show All Files from the View menu at the top of the window. If you just want to view a specific folder or file, select it from the list on the left side of the window. ..
To show hidden files, open Control Panel and double-click on Folder Options.
Click on the View tab, and then click the radio button for “Show hidden files and folders”
Now when you go back into explorer you will see additional folders you were not able to see previously.
Note: For those of you who want to tweak and hack on XP, looking closer at this list you will see a checkmark next to “Hide protected operating system files”.
To show protected system files, just uncheck this box and a warning confirmation dialog box will appear. Click Yes to verify and you will then have access to system files and folders.
