Windows 10 is a great operating system and it has a lot of features that make it an ideal platform for businesses. One of the features that Windows 10 offers is the registry. The registry is a collection of files that stores information about your computer and its settings. When you make changes to your computer’s settings, you need to remember to back up the registry so that you can revert any changes if something goes wrong. Here are some tips on how to back up the registry in Windows 10:
- Open the Registry Editor and create a new key by typing New Key at the top of the Registry Editor window.
- Name the key Backups and select Yes when asked to create a new key.
- Type regedit in the New Key field and press Enter.
- In regedit, click on the following tab: (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon) (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon) (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE)\SOFTWARE (HKEY_CURRENT_USER.DEFAULT) (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE)\SOFTWARE<user name><password> (HKCU.DEFAULT) into the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE field and press Enter.

Open regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box.
With the Registry Editor open, click on File Export and choose a location to store the backup file. Name it something easy to remember such as “My Registry Backup”.
To restore your registry just navigate back to the backup and double click the file and click OK.
