Google Chrome users may be interested to know that they can increase the number of suggestions shown in the Omnibox popup by using an undocumented switch. By default, Chrome displays five suggestions when users type in the Omnibox, but by changing the setting to eight, users can see up to sixteen suggestions. This workaround was discovered by web developer and Google Chrome enthusiast John Resig. He explained on his blog how to enable the extra suggestion count: “To get more than five suggestions in the omnibox, you need to change a setting in Google Chrome. In the main menu (chrome://settings/), click on “Advanced.” Under “Search,” click on “Omnibox.” In the “Popup Suggestions” section, change the number from 5 to 8.” While this workaround is not officially supported by Google, it has been reported to work successfully for many users. If you’re looking for an easier way to increase your Omnibox suggestion count, it may be worth trying out John’s method. ..

To illustrate what we’re talking about, once you start typing in the Omnibox you’ll see 5 suggestions:

But we can increase that to 10, or even more if you choose:

The magic happens with a simple command line switch that we’ll add to the shortcut. Just open up the properties for your Google Chrome icon, and add the following switch to the end of the Target line (making sure to put a space between)

Now when you launch Chrome with this shortcut, you’ll see more suggestions in the list. Note that you could put any number instead of 10.
