If you need to insert characters or symbols into a spreadsheet, there are a few different ways to go about it. One way is to use the Insert Symbol dialog box, which you can open by clicking the Insert tab and selecting Symbols from the list on the left. The Insert Symbol dialog box has a variety of options, including a list of character codes and symbols that you can select from. You can also type in your own character or symbol using the keyboard. For example, if you want to insert an ampersand (&), you would type “&” into the text field next to “Symbol.” Another way to insert characters and symbols into a spreadsheet is to use the Format Cells command. This command is located under the Home tab on the ribbon, and it has several options that allow you to customize your spreadsheet. For example, you can change the font size and color of text cells, as well as add borders and other formatting features. ..

First click on the Cell you want to add the symbol to.

Next you will want to go to The Ribbon and click on the Symbol Icon.

This brings up a Virtual Keyboard full of Symbols and Special Characters.

Simply select the one or several you wish to use and double click to enter them into the selected cell.  So in this example you can see I am getting carried away and trying out various fonts and languages…

However, this is a great tip to know if you need to get that spreadsheet done by 5pm for Mr. Lumbergh!
